Amanda Beck – Ecological Consultant


1) What is your work background and when did you join JCA Limited?
I originally volunteered for North Wales Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation Trust & Clwyd Bat Group. I did a training placement at Just Mammals Consultancy up in Brecon, worked for Enfys Ecology as a freelance and then joined JCA in 2018.

2) What do you enjoy most about working at JCA Ltd?
The friendly atmosphere.

3) What is your favourite type of survey to carry out & why?
Marine Surveys for Mammals/Invertebrate Surveys – Both to add scientific knowledge to scarce data on both these species also the challenge to ID and find.

4) Describe yourself in three words?
Methodical, driven & approachable.

5) Which hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I attend lectures of the Field Naturalists Society. I am currently studying for a masters in Biological Research & Ecological Monitoring.

6) What are your dislikes?
Inpolite people & the smell of fish markets.

 7) Which TV show are you currently binge-watching?
None – currently studying for a masters.

 8) What would you say is your spirit animal and why?
A Phoenix as no matter what gets thrown at me, I rise from the ashes.
